Theoretical Orientation
I believe the counseling relationship to be a safe and trusting relationship that can bring the client change, hope and healing. I want my clients to feel free to explore any areas of concern in their lives, so I strive to create a non-judgmental and welcoming environment. I see myself as a guide to help the client attain the growth and change they are seeking. This means I work with the client in the direction the therapy takes and in the goal setting process. I strive to make the client feel valued and empowered to handle the issues they are facing. It is important for the client to understand that counseling is not always easy. Many times it is hard and challenging. But the rewards of working through the difficult issues will be worth the effort. I do not adhere to one specific counseling theory. Rather, I use strength-based, CBT and other approaches that best fit the clients concerns and the goals they want to achieve.
