The purpose of this group is to empower children with ADHD in understanding that they have a unique brain that is just as good as a typical brain, but has to be managed differently. The group places emphasis on strengths as ‘superpowers’ and introduces mindfulness early to begin to train their brains to improve focus, attention and emotional regulation.
Introduction of skills is more to empower them to recognize that they can find strategies for the things they struggle with, rather than expectation of truly making lasting changes at this early point in their academic lives. Parents/Guardians will be provided weekly information to support information given in group while at home. This group meets weekly for 8 sessions and is closed; participants commit to the group's duration from April 8th-June 3rd.
