Serita Backstrand PsyD
Dr. Backstrand is a clinical psychologist licensed in both Oregon and Washington. She earned her Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (PsyD) from George Fox University (GFU) in 2015, a Masters in Clinical Psychology from GFU in 2012, and a Bachelors of Arts In Psychology, with a minor in Spanish Language & Culture, from Oregon State University in 2010. She has worked as a clinician and evaluator in a variety of settings, including community mental health, private practice, schools, the forensic/court setting, and with law enforcement/public safety agencies. She has experience with a diverse clientele of all ages and from numerous backgrounds. She currently offers individual therapy to adults using a combination of Client-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy approaches. She specializes particularly in anxiety, stress, adjustment issues, and First Responders; she is a Certified First Responder Counselor. She also offers psychological, cognitive, and developmental evaluation services for all ages.
Dr. Backstrand offers a supportive, client-centered approach, while also using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy to decrease symptoms, increase insight and coping, and improve psychosocial functioning. Above all, she strives to help clients address their concerns and meet their goals.
Dr. Backstrand enjoys reading, painting, gardening, traveling, making decorative soap, and spending time with her husband and dog.
