Ruben True-Romero is a Professional Counselor Associate with over 8 years of clinical experience. Ruben offers supportive and inclusive spaces for people with the mindset that nobody should feel like an outsider. He provides specialized therapy for those who are feeling weighed down with loneliness, anxiety, depression, ethno-racial trauma, interpersonal trauma, addiction, identity developmental challenges, life transitions, and/or grief. He grounds his work in trauma informed neuro science, self-determination theory, and attachment. In his work with clients, he provides an environment that supports a person's need to feel a sense of choice, competence, and connection. He works with adolescent and adult clients. Ruben is person centered and experiential in his approach. He integrates DBT depending on the client needs. He is also mindful of how our wellness is often impacted by the systems we live in. He is intentional about doing his part to ensure marginalized communities are receiving equitable and culturally responsive mental health care.

In his free time, Ruben is a music creator and poet who immerses himself in nature as much as possible to stay grounded. He enjoys landscape photography and adventuring in the Pacific Northwest with his wife and Beagle.
