Michelle Turner LCSW

Education

Michelle holds a master’s degree in social work and is also a Certified Alcohol/ Drug Counselor, level III. She has advanced courses in human development, group dynamics, marriage counseling theories, research methodology, professional orientation and ethics, social and cultural foundations, career counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, counseling and interviewing skills and clinical assessment. Michelle has a diverse experience providing mental health services through both direct clinical care, program management and clinical supervision and training. She has served clients in multiple program settings including school-based programs, inpatient and outpatient settings, intensive outpatient programs, individual counseling settings in group settings. Michelle has more than 26 years experience working with adolescents and adults working on issues ranging from adjustment reaction disorder, depression with anxiety, chronic PTSD, complicated grief, abandonment issues, substance abuse disorder issues, communication, and relationship issues as well as coping skills. Michelle has also talked adjunct faculty at a local community college for 15 years.  

Services Offered

Bio-Psycho- social Assessment, treatment planning, case management, crisis management, discharge planning as well as therapy with individuals, family, couples, and groups.  

Theoretical Orientation

Michelle primarily employs a Cognitive Behavioral approach to treatment with a strength- based and solution- focused approach to individualized care. She also holds to a Rogerian, person centered approach with clients understanding as a “tool broker” she empowers others to help themselves. She believes that everyone has the ability to develop into functioning adults and with consistent support and positive modeling that supportive encouragement and accountability contribute to people leading healthier, more fulfilled lives. Goals of treatment are collaboratively established with clients.
