Education
Albert Matthew is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington who has been practicing since 2015. He has a Bachelor of Arts, Psychology Major, Sociology Minor and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Gonzaga University. Albert is able to provide a safe, trusting environment for clients seeking increased self-awareness, understanding the impact of early life experiences on daily functioning and development of tools to improve decision-making and self-empowerment. Albert is a native of the Northwest and has worked in the mental health field for approximately 20 years. He worked with children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral issues in a variety of settings – group home, residential, day treatment and behavioral learning classrooms – for 9 years before transitioning to working with adults in his graduate program. Albert very much enjoys working with individuals, families, couples, and groups to both foster desired changes, develop skills to better manage presenting problems, and increase overall sense of agency in one’s life. Outside of work, Albert enjoys staying active (i.e. walking, tennis, yoga), engaging in daily self-care, developing new areas of interests (i.e. learning guitar), live music and travel, in addition to spending time with friends and family.
