Marita Tiller LPC, CCTP
Marita is a Licensed Professional Counselor and certified clinical trauma professional. She is trained in EMDR. She graduated from Portland State University with a degree in communication studies and a minor in psychology. She attended George Fox University for graduate work, earning a Master's degree in Counseling. She has worked in residential treatment, community non-profit, and private practice. Prior work includes travel sales, banking, and construction.
Marita offers individual counseling for those aged 19 to 74. Couples are taken on a case by case basis.
Marita's theoretical approach is eclectic, based on the needs of the client. She tends to use a holistic approach to get to the core of the issue and address mistaken beliefs that bring healing, new cognitions, skills and perspective. She believes re-wiring of the brain is possible and past painful experiences do not have to intrude on the present forever. Interventions may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Bodywork, Meditation/visualizations, EMDR, Positive Psychology, and Solution Focused.
In her off-time, Marita enjoys being out in the sun, doing activities such as watersports, hiking, gardening, and walking. When it's cold and rainy, she enjoys baking, reading, and acrylic painting. She adores architecture, travel, and music.
