Theoretical Orientation
Lucia's primary areas of interest are working with anxiety/depression and trauma or PTSD, but is comfortable working with many other issues than an individual may bring. She is trained in various different approaches so that treatment can be tailored to what works for the client. A few of the approaches include:
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy): This focuses on changing thoughts and behaviors to change emotions.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy): A trauma processing approach that helps post-traumatic stress and can also work well for releasing old beliefs that keep you stuck or certain types of anxieties.
Mindfulness Practice: This has many benefits including helping us to become more aware, more in charge of thoughts and behaviors instead of acting out of habit or impulse. It can help us to live in the present instead of worrying about the future too much or getting stuck in the past.
Lucia also enjoys studying energy work and somatic therapies (using body movements and postures).
