Janet Hendricks LMHC
More Information
Hello! My name is Janet Hendricks and I am a licensed professional counselor in Oregon and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington. I obtained an undergraduate degree in Social Sciences from the University of Oregon and a masters degree in clinical mental health counseling from Oregon State University.
I see individual adult clients for anxiety, depression, grief/loss issues, life transitions, childhood emotional neglect and relational/betrayal trauma.
I identify as a psychodynamic therapist, which means I focus on how one’s past relationships and experiences impact the current struggles in life. The focus of healing will be on gaining insight and self-awareness, learning and practicing skills & developing self-compassion.
I have a warm empathic nature. I provide an accepting, non-judgmental space for my clients to develop curiosity about themselves and their current situation. I take a creative, strength-based approach to sessions and explore with clients whether there is balance in their mind-body relationship.
I can also provide clients knowledge of neurobiology and how experiences impact our thoughts, feelings and behaviors and can lead us to see ourselves as the problem, instead of seeing the human mind and nervous system as doing what it was designed to do; to be protective and adapt to situations.
Therapy techniques I use in session, include but are not limited to:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Internal Family Systems Therapy
Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy
