Education
Jacob got a Bachelor's in philosophy and a Masters's in Social Work, both from Portland State University. Jacob has been a counselor in both inpatient and outpatient settings for mental health, addictions, and domestic violence (prevention and response) agencies.
Services Offered
Jacob does both individual and group counseling. Jacob is not currently doing group counseling at Lifestance, but will at some time in the future.
Theoretical Orientation
Jacob's approach to each client is tailored according to the client's feedback. Jacob thinks of the therapeutic relationship in terms of what may be encouraging or discouraging the client's movement towards greater equality and liberation. Some tools in Jacob's toolset are Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness techniques, Somatic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Feminist Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
