Theoretical Orientation
Emily views the therapy process as two or more experts coming together to engage in goal-directed conversation in pursuit of change. She considers you the expert of your experience, wants, and needs. She sees herself as the expert of the therapeutic process, and theoretical framework of the field. With your combined knowledge, she believes you can accomplish change together. What change you choose to work towards depends on what you view as important and applicable. Each person comes into her office with their own set of strengths that can be utilized during therapy. All clients have a unique intersection of identities, support systems, and context that will be explored in sessions. Emily's theoretical orientation is Experiential Emotionally Focused Therapy with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Influences.
