As a trauma-informed clinician, Emily offers an integrative and evidence-based approach, weaving mindfulness, somatic awareness, and a social justice mindset into her work. Emily believes that we all possess inherent wholeness and wisdom. You are the expert on your experiences, and her role is to guide and empower you to deepen your understanding of yourself. Our experiences are held in our brains and bodies in often-unconscious patterns; when we mindfully bring our attention and acceptance to our experience in the moment, these patterns can rise to the surface of our consciousness, granting greater connection to self and increased autonomy. Emily uses, in addition to those listed: Mindfulness, IFS, Somatic Experiencing, Psychodynamic, Relational-Cultural, Mindful Self-Compassion.
Emily attends to the impacts of societal expectations and systemic oppression and works to identify each person’s acts of resistance and resilience. Emily strives to view clients through the lens of their unique experiences and within the social context of settler colonialism, capitalism, and cis-heteropatriarchy. Human behavior is responsive to our environmental conditions, and though sometimes difficult or maladaptive, makes sense in the context in which we are living. Emily promotes neuroinclusivity and welcomes clients of all races, genders, sexual orientations, bodies, and physical abilities. We are wired for connection, and Emily’s therapeutic approach is highly relational, which serves to create a safe space for the healing process. Together you will co-create a path towards greater health, satisfaction, and wholeness. Emily believes in your capacity for the change you desire and the healing you seek.
In her free time, Emily enjoys gardening, hiking, running, yoga, travel, playing ukulele, growing and making tea blends, poetry, and seasonal cooking.
