Theoretical Orientation

Alexandria's philosophy is that all people have the desire to create positive changes in their lives and strive for wellness. She approaches therapy from the perspective that we each come from a family system that has an influence on us through roles, values, belief systems, and behavior patterns. She works from an approach highlighting the interconnectedness between the body, mind, and spirit, and wishes to help clients reach awareness of the interplay between thoughts and actions, highlighting an acceptance of emotions and values behind behavior. Her approach to counseling is an integrative approach that draws from person-centered and cognitive behavioral theories (CBT) of counseling and draws techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Expressive Arts and Play Therapies, Narrative and Attachment focused therapies.
