I think of myself as both a scientist and an artist and really enjoy practicing clinical psychology. I conceptualize and treat clients primarily from a cognitive-behavioral perspective but also conceptualize from an existentialist perspective. From the cognitive-behavioral perspective, I look for connections between the thinking patterns, behavioral choices, emotional reactions, and relationships with others that may be causing problems for the individual. From the existential perspective, I recognize that crises occur at different stages of life that cause a person to stop and struggle to find meaning in the midst of pain. I prefer to utilize research-supported, empirically-validated treatments in an efficient manner when treating my clients. I appreciate the diversity that each client brings to therapy, be that individual differences, cultural traditions, ethnicity, or a variety of religious backgrounds.
