Seeking Safety is an evidence-based treatment group for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Substance Abuse*/Unsafe Behaviors. It is a structured, present-focused group (not a process group-- clients do not need to tell their trauma story), aimed at making the present and future better than the past. This is a 10 week group, the goals are:
• Reduce PTSD/trauma symptoms
• Develop safe coping skills to replace unsafe behaviors such as substance abuse, other addictive behavior, self harm, aggression, isolation or unhealthy relationships
• Learn grounding strategies for detaching from emotional pain
• Identify safe people, places, activities
