Seeking Safety is an evidence-based treatment group for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Substance Abuse*/Unsafe Behaviors. It is a structured, present-focused group (not a process group-- clients do not need to tell their trauma story), aimed at making the present and future better than the past. This is an 8 week group and group goals are:
- Reduce PTSD/trauma symptoms
- Develop safe coping skills to replace unsafe behaviors such as substance abuse, other addictive behavior, self harm, aggression, isolation or unhealthy relationships
- Learn grounding strategies for detaching from emotional pain
- Identify safe people, places, activities
Submit referral now to Summer Krause, LPC,CADCIII at Gladstone WPCS 503-659-5515 to set up 45 minute screening appointment.
Most insurances accepted, financial assistance available.
*Note: it is not necessary for clients to have substance abuse issues or to meet full criteria for PTSD in order to benefit from the group, however there must be a trauma history and need for safe coping skills
