The many applications of mindfulness are based on a few general principles whose simplicity and power have sparked interest for centuries. Our intention is to explore mindfulness skills as an essentially experiential process.
Class participants will learn how to improve their mindfulness skills practice, both formally and informally. Exploring how this training can improve mental health and well-being by:
-Developing awareness of personal triggers and habitual reactions, and learning ways to create a pause in how we respond.
-Changing our relationship to discomfort, learning to recognize challenging emotional and physical experiences and responding to them in skillful ways.
-Fostering a non-judgmental, compassionate approach toward ourselves and our experiences.
-Building a lifestyle that supports both mindfulness practice and self-compassion.
