Individual (children and teenagers) and Family Counseling
Theoretical Orientation
I believe children and families seek counseling for unique reasons and have different ideas for how to sort through their difficulties. In essence, I believe that children and families are the experts in their own lives. To ensure that therapy meets these individualized needs, I work together with children/families to create self-defined goals and use a variety of therapeutic approaches to help children/families achieve these goals in the shortest amount of time possible. I work from an integrative approach, primarily utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which focuses on making connections between thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I use evidenced based and solution-focused practices such as CBT, psychoeducation, family systems and Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) to work with children/families towards achieving their goals.
