Paul Guinther Ph.D.
Paul has a doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of New Mexico, and his internship was with the Salt Lake VA Medical Center. He has specialized clinical and research training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy through a postdoctoral fellowship at Portland Psychotherapy.
Paul is a chronic pain specialist with Western offering individual and group psychotherapy. He can also help address complex bereavement, depression, anxiety, anger, trauma/PTSD, addiction (but see also our chemical dependency program), and relationship difficulties.
He takes a compassionate stance and uses evidence-based therapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Behavioral Activation, Prolonged Exposure, Motivational interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. His functional contextual orientation is based in behavioral, humanistic, existential, gestalt, and mindfulness traditions.
Paul enjoys nature, hiking, guitar, scientific research, science fiction, and spending time with his family.
