Education
Marti has a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from George Fox University , and a Master of Education from Portland State University. Marti has advanced courses in human growth and development, major counseling theories, group dynamics, tests and assessments, research methodology, counseling and interviewing skills, professional orientation and ethics, social and cultural foundations, behavioral , risk assessment and crisis intervention, personality and counseling theory, trauma and social justice, psychopathology and appraisal. Marti believes in an inclusive and respectful relationship with her clients. My practice involves working with a diverse population based on a personal approach tailored to the unique and individual needs of each client.

Theoretical Orientation
Marti incorporates Person Center Therapy, with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Based Therapy , and Narrative Therapy techniques along with mindfulness to aid empowerment, and to increase life satisfaction. I provide a warm and safe place to connect with your authentic self, utilizing a strength based humanistic and holistic approach grounded in social justice based on our ability to grow and develop as human beings. My goal is to assist you in empowering children and adolescents through balance, awareness, and the knowledge they already hold. I believe in learning and a person’s ability rise from life’s challenges.
I also hold a Master of Education, and was an educator for close to 20 years. I have worked with students, families, as an educator, and in my conversations with students, families and educators, I decided to become a mental health counselor. Working as a school based counselor allows me to continue to work with students, their families, and educators, coming full circle in my career and experience as an educator and mental health counselor.

Marti is a native Spanish speaker, and fully bilingual. Marti can do mental health therapy in both English, and Spanish for all her clients and families. Her interests include spending time with my family, and friends, traveling, camping, hiking, the great outdoors, cooking and visits to the ocean.
