Theoretical Orientation
Kristina's theoretical orientation depends on the needs of the child and families seen. With this said, with a background in Marriage and family therapy, she orients more towards Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Family Systems Theories. Working with children, there also needs to be a strong emphasis on play as play is the primary language children use to describe their social emotional life. As Kristina has learned from many developmental theorists that following a child's lead in play can help open up a child to working towards personal and social growth.
More Information
I emphasize the importance of making children feel listened to and heard as the cornerstone to working towards parents and the child's goals. Additionally, I find it invaluable to seek out their strengths and interests as a way to help them meet their goals and to build on their self-esteem.
