Kate Herr PsyD
Dr. Herr graduated from Rosemead School of Psychology in 2011 with a doctorate in clinical psychology. She completed an APA internship at the University of the Pacific Counseling Center in California. Dr. Herr has worked in university counseling centers, community mental health clinics, acute psychiatric hospitals, and long term, adolescent community treatment facilities. Dr. Herr has gained experience working the complex, childhood trauma, depression and anxiety, grief, religious/spiritual and identity issues including LGBTQIA.
Dr. Herr works primarily with individuals, within 1:1 setting. She also facilitates group from time to time. Currently, Dr. Herr is facilitating adult DBT groups through the Salmon Creek office.
Dr. Herr was trained in an interpersonal/psychodynamic orientation which emphasizes the importance of relationships, personal insight, awareness and agency. While her theoretical orientation is psychodynamic in nature, Dr. Herr actively integrates other treatment modalities, such as DBT, CBT, Solution Oriented, and other evidence based treatments in an effort to meet the individual where they are at, and help them build internal strength while identifying healthy and effective life strategies and skills.
During her free time, Dr. Herr enjoys camping and adventures to beautiful places in nature with friends and family. She also considers herself a bit of a geek, having grown up on Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and the Matrix. She enjoys trying to solve Rubik's cubes and expanding her wilderness skills. Dr. Herr has a general reputation for being authentic, albeit slightly irreverent, appreciating the need for humor, while getting to the heart of the matter.
