Jeff Russ PhD
Jeff has a doctorate in counseling psychology (Ph.D. - Walden), one master’s in Special Education focusing on Vocational and Educational Assessments (M.Ed. - Western Washington), and another master’s in Public Administration focusing on Personnel Management – Organizational Effectiveness – Grant Writing (MPA - Pacific Lutheran). His doctoral dissertation focused on human resources management strategies to assist with the unreported addictions and mental illness issues in the workplace, assure that workers were able to receive the help they needed, identify the evidence-based therapeutic approaches, and expedite the employee’s successful return-to-work. This focus assists Jeff in integrating his knowledge of addictions, human resources practices, and employee assistance programs.
Individual Therapy, Couple’s Therapy, Family Therapy, and Group Therapy
Utilizing a short-term solution-focused approach to therapy, Jeff employs motivational interviewing techniques to assist his patients in guiding their own treatment through the establishment of clear, monitorable, measurable, and attainable goals. His knowledge and personal experience with addictions has assisted many individuals to develop new life paths. Jeff states that his goal in life is “to help people help themselves.” To speak with Jeff, contact the Lifestance Health office in Salmon Creek, Washington.
Jeff deals with addictions, parenting, communication, relational issues, stress, sleep disorders, depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Jeff has provided human resources/management consulting for organizations for more than twenty years. He is a Human Resources professional and broadcaster. Originally when he entered the helping services by working for a large non-profit organization (The Salvation Army), the management noticed that he was building positive relationships with the hardest to reach clients. Because Jeff is a recovering addict with more than forty years of sobriety, he had experienced all of the issues that the clients were experiencing. He has also taught classes and designed curriculum for post-secondary programs, including Bellingham Vocational Technical College (Washington), Northern Lights College (British Columbia), and the College of New Caledonia (British Columbia). In addition to his psychologist license in Washington, he is licensed as a Substance Use Disorders Professional Certification (CP-Washington State), Professional Teacher (Special Education, Physical Education, and Social Studies in Washington State), Registered Clinical Counsellor (British Columbia, Canada), Certified Human Resources Professional (British Columbia, Canada), Professional Teacher (Saskatchewan, Canada), Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counsellor (Canada), and a Third Class Broadcaster (US Federal Communications Commission). Jeff is now available to you through Lifestance Health.
When Jeff is not working, he enjoys triathlons (Ironman Canada in 1988 & 1996), marathons (last 2004), racquet sports, dancing, community service, current events, and spectator sports.
