Education
Emma completed her MA in Professional Mental Health Counseling from Lewis and Clark. Before that she spent time working with elders and adults with disabilities in Yakima, WA. She completed her BA in History at Gonzaga University. She has worked with mental health and substance use for over 15 years in various roles including support staff, case manager, and therapist. She completed her counseling internship at NARA. She has been at Western Psychological and Counseling Services for over 2 years.

Emma believes that there are many different approaches to therapy. What works for one person might not work for another. She believes that by developing a strong therapeutic relationship we will find what works best. We all have a history and are doing the best we can with what we know, if we address barriers and unhealthy behaviors we can continue to improve and live a more satisfying life. Some approaches she uses come from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, solution focused, emotion focused and motivational interviewing
