Theoretical Orientation
Diane's approach to therapy is based on a cognitive behavioral model, helping individuals learn how to cope with and overcome struggles through addressing the mind and body. She believes knowledge is power, therefore she tailors her approach to each individual yet she primarily utilizes education, skill building and challenging unhealthy thinking. Of course, this is mixed with the right amount of encouragement to help bring about change. She works closely with each individual in a collaborative manner to help the individual/family get the support they need in difficult times. When treating children/adolescents she stresses the importance of involving parents and helping them gain the skills/tools to help meet their child's needs as well as provide support to help the parent(s) overcome his/her own personal challenges that may be impacting their child's behavior/mood. She believes in making therapy fun and utilizes play, art, music, writing and much more to inspire change. Diane enjoys working with all ages and helping each individual get on his/her path of healing so to reach their full potential and enjoy life to its fullest.
