Diane Straube LMHC
MS in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University, Minnesota and BA in Psychology from Western Washington University. Diane is currently a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in the state of Washington. Previous experience includes working with adults/adolescents/children in community mental health, outpatient mental health setting, school setting, children's residential treatment, crisis intervention and domestic violence shelter/outreach.
Diane offers individual treatment for adults, adolescents and children as well as family sessions, parent training, group sessions and couples therapy.
Diane's approach to therapy is based on a cognitive behavioral model, helping individuals learn how to cope with and overcome struggles through addressing the mind and body. She believes knowledge is power, therefore she tailors her approach to each individual yet she primarily utilizes education, skill building and challenging unhealthy thinking. Of course, this is mixed with the right amount of encouragement to help bring about change. She works closely with each individual in a collaborative manner to help the individual/family get the support they need in difficult times. When treating children/adolescents she stresses the importance of involving parents and helping them gain the skills/tools to help meet their child's needs as well as provide support to help the parent(s) overcome his/her own personal challenges that may be impacting their child's behavior/mood. She believes in making therapy fun and utilizes play, art, music, writing and much more to inspire change. Diane enjoys working with all ages and helping each individual get on his/her path of healing so to reach their full potential and enjoy life to its fullest.
Diane grew up in Eastern Washington and now enjoys the rain and greenery on this side of the state. She is married and has three school age children. She enjoys reading, walking, yoga, camping, playing the piano, crafts and spending time with her friends and family.
