Chanel Walker-Harris LPC
Education
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who holds a graduate degree in Counseling Psychology and an undergraduate degree in Psychology. Before graduate school I began honing my skills as an outreach worker with chronically homeless and severely mentally ill individuals. I also spent time teaching social skills to youth who suffered from behavioral problems. Post graduate school I gained experience working with marginalized persons, addictions, and trauma interventions.
Services Offered
I provide both individual therapy and group therapy to adolescents ages 14 to 18 and Adults ages 18 to 65+.
Theoretical Orientation
When working with any client, my goal is to help facilitate change, develop new insights, and achieve personal growth. I believe the path to a better world is through each client I encounter. I consider my role as one who uplifts, encourages, and empowers the client to forge onward in this journey called life. The foundation of my relationship with all client's is built on the ideas of kindness, trust, equality, and safety. The mode I use to clinically effect change is an eclectic integration of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. It is my personal goal that once the therapeutic relationship has ended, you are closer to your authentic self. “Nothing is going to change, unless someone does something soon." Dr. Seuss
