Carol Butler-Paisley PMHNP, FNP
I have been a nurse since 1995 and a nurse practitioner since 2002. I completed my Masters in Nursing and post-graduate studies at Oregon Health Sciences University, initially specializing as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and then as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). I am board-certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center both as a FNP and PMHNP. I
have worked in a variety of practice settings as a medical and psychiatric provider: primary care, emergency room/urgent care, corrections health, a sexual trauma recovery center, an inpatient psychiatric unit, a community mental health outpatient clinic, private practice including both therapy and medication management, an STD clinic, and inpatient surgical orthopedics. Prior practice and volunteer experience has focused on serving diverse populations including minority and other marginalized population groups and cross cultural work.
I provide general medication management for most mental health symptoms to current WPCS therapy clients ages 18-64. As a generalist I am able to provide broad based psychiatric medication services, but I also have specialty expertise in trauma recovery and women's mental health. I am also a Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) through WPCS providing consultation and medication management for adults in an integrated primary care setting at NW Primary Care.
I believe medications can be a valuable tool to reduce symptoms that prohibit us from flourishing in our lives. I also believe in the importance of holistic practice, which includes supporting the therapeutic process as paramount, and supporting the symbiotic relationship between physical and mental health.
Most important to me is “framily” and immersing myself in the company of humans and animals I am privileged to love. I enjoy being out in nature as much as possible, downpours beware!
